I am re-familiarizing myself with AfterEffects 2020. The first tutorial includes a simple 10 second sample clip provided in the AE directory. Each time I try to preview this simple clip with a simple graphic in front of it the app and system both freeze and after a few minutes the OS (Catalina 10.15.4) shuts down completely and requires a reboot.
How can I trust this app when it either fails or underperforms in the midst of actual creative work for which every minute counts?
We pay dearly every month for a premium CC subscription. I expect it to work flawlessly, as I have expected every version of Adobe software I have purchased since 1995.
FYI: I use InDesign, PhotoShop and Illustrator routinely and to be frank, your cloud-based delivery system wreaks havoc on my OS. It is slow to launch and invasive. The apps slow down the entire system. I would say Creative Cloud needs more work.
Adobe should give all of its best customers i.e., every single user and subscriber to their products (who incidentally are now either unemployed or on leave) a break on the fees for a couple of months. Especially when their product is also a source of grief for so many.
I would like your response to the issue I described above with AfterEffects. Perhaps your video sample should be replaced/updated. Perhaps I should be using a supercomputer. Perhaps I have a setting wrong.
I am going to try a different approach and I will certainly continue to report my experiences.
Yours truly
