AIR version 2.0.3 getStatus returns 'available'instead of expected 'installed' status

AIR 2.0.3.13070 is installed and AIR apps run successfully, yet AIR.SWF getStatus consistently returns 'available' instead of expected 'installed' status. Previous posts have attributed this problem to a missing 'airappinstaller.exe' within Macromedia settings. I've confirmed this file indeed exists.

This is occuring on Mac OSX 10.6 with FireFox 3.6.10 and Safari 5.0.2.

I suspect uninstall/reinstall of AIR would likely fix this, but wish to know root cause for existing AIR users.

Hi Mark,

Can you check to to see if the "per system" location contains the airappinstaller file:

/Application/Adobe/Flash Player/AddIns/airappinstaller/

If the file is there, the accompanying digest.s file must also be there. The digest.s file is what the Flash Player uses to validate that the airappinstaller is valid.

Yes! Thank you for the info. I searched for and found the entire 'Flash Player' folder in the user's trash bin. I restored it and now getStatus works as expected.

I'm not sure why this folder was deleted in the first place. Perhaps the user thought he was uninstalling FP?.

Hi Mark,

Glad to hear it helped.  Good thing the user hadn't emptied their trash!
