Hello AIR developers,
We've been made aware of changes in the upcoming Android N operating system release that will impact existing AIR applications. Due to new restrictions from OpenJDK, AIR developers that want to support Android N will need to rebuild with AIR 22 or higher. We've made NDK changes to AIR 22 (available in our current beta) that now comply with Android's OpenJDK.
We expect to release AIR 22 in June and would appreciate your feedback. Please download the latest Android N preview and today's release of the AIR 22 beta and try your application out. Please let us know if you encounter any problems.
Thanks,
The AIR team

What are the new restrictions that impact AIR as far as the OpenJDK? Are you talking about the new permission model as well?

Can you share any further information on the impact of leaving existing Android Air apps as they are? Will they cease to function on Android N devices?

@markburvs It is my understanding that applications built with AIR 21 or below will not function on Android N (or at least be allowed on the Play Store.)
@TeotiGraphix The restrictions are related to libraries that we were previously building AIR with. AIR 22 has libraries compliant with Android N.
@izlotskiy We're hard at work on a tvOS beta and I'm hoping we will be able to put something into the beta channel in the coming months!
