Adobe Air 2.0 auto-update FAQ page states "You can turn the AIR update feature on or off via the AIR SettingsManager application. The AIR SettingsManager application is available for download at http://airdownload.adobe.com/air/applications/SettingsManager/SettingsManager.air."

But after using this tool Adobe Air continues trying to contact Adobe, and since our network policies does not allow the update, Adobe Air continues trying it for some time (about one minute or two).

The problem is the fact that along the time Adobe Air is trying to auto-update our app remains frozen and it do not start until Adobe Air decides to stop its process of auto-update. In addition we tried to block the urls Adobe Air try to contact, but by using a sniffer we realized it tries different ones along the time so this only works for a limited time.

In addition I found an old post where a staff member (Luis Polanco) of Adobe Air seems to state there is no way to avoid the auto-update:

"AIR applications cannot disable runtime updates. The decision to disable runtime updates in an open system is a decision the end user needs to make. If the runtime is deployed within an intranet in a closed system, IT administrators can disable the runtime update. This can only be accomplished within a closed environment and only after an enterprise has accepted the Adobe AIR distribution agreement. You can obtain a redistribution agreement here: http://www.adobe.com/products/air/runtime_distribution1.html Luis Polanco Adobe AIR" (original post: https://forums.adobe.com/thread/36023).

The sentence "This can only be accomplished within a closed environment and only after an enterprise has accepted the Adobe AIR distribution agreement" puzzled me. Maybe there is a different runtime with a different license agreement able to be used disabling the auto-update?

Any suggestion will be appreciated
