Loading AS2 SWF into mobile AIR application - Any way to pull this off?

Hello,

Sorry if I trip up somewhere, this is my first post here.

I have had a game publicly available for a few years that was made in AS2. Learning about how AIR applications can contain and communicate with AS2 SWF's, I got excited at the possibility that maybe I could get my game running on mobile, but from my research I see lots of potential roadblocks. Before I dive too deep down the rabbit hole, I was hoping to find a straight answer - Is it possible in any way to pull off the container method on Android/iOS? I saw older release notes detailing how to host external SWFs using a complicated process but I assumed that was only for AS3 ABC.

Hoping to hear from someone!

Best Regards,

Avery Broere.

you can't

AIR mobile do not have the engine parts that can interpret ActionScript 2

see Capabilities of different profiles

on the line "ActionScript 2"
desktop and extendedDesktop have a Yes
mobileDevice have a No

Now I would say porting AS2 to AS3 is not somethign extremely hard

Thanks for your response!

Yes, after going over it with my team, we think just moving to AS3 shouldn't take more than a few months. Unfortunately we have lots of movie clips and buttons with nested code, but it is what it is.
