We are working on an AIR for mobile app that requires users to be able to record audio from the mic while the app is also playing background music. Everything works fine on Android, but we have found on iOS that recording while the background music is playing causes the background music to stutter constantly. This issue occurs on iPhone 4s, iPhone 6, and iPad 2. We have tried adjusting the recording quality settings and publishing in deployment mode, but this does not affect the stutter. The stutter is also not affected by whether the app is in CPU or GPU mode.
Has anyone been able to successfully play audio while also recording audio without any stuttering or playback issues?
