What versions of Adobe air are compatible with Mac OSX 10.6.8 and where is the cut off?

I'm currently running Mac OSX 10.6.8 and each time I download Adobe Air, the file downloads as damaged. I'm wondering if it's a version issue or if it is some other problem. I've checked the compatibility matrix for Adobe Air and OS systems but it doesn't seem to specify. I have another machine that is also Mac OSX 10.6.8 and Adobe Air seems to working fine. Could anyone help with this?

Also, I had another machine OSX 10.4. I recently updated to 10.6.8 and installed Adobe Air v17 and its working fine.
