Adobe animate crashes when editing toolbar

I am trying to access the paint brush tool in Adobe Animate (It is hidden), but when I click the three dots to edit the toolbar and access other tools, animate instantly crashes. Tried this several times, its always the same.

you could try resetting your preferences by uninstalling animate (and preferences), though results have been disappointing lately.
