Animate - Individual Layers with Transparent Backgrounds

In Photoshop, I can give my layers tansparent backgrounds, if I choose.  Can the same be done in Animate ?

I've spent a couple of hours researching this and found nothing that applies to individual layers.  I've found articles on "Exporting", but I'm not interested in that.

you can "outline" any layer(s) in the ide, but when publishing the layer will not be "outlined".
