Animate lagging

Hello i am using adobe animate 2022 but have found it to be lagging a lot. Its taken a long time to draw a handful of frames let alone colouring them in. Every icon i press freezes the program for around 30 seconds at a time. Is there something i can do to fix this? I thought my laptop would be sufficiently powerful enough to manage this program.

What tool are you using to draw? 
What are your system specs?

I'm not that knowledgeable when it comes to the specs of what i'm using but i'm using a 16gb HP Pavilion laptop and i'm drawing with a wacom tablet

Here are the system requirements for Adobe Animate.

Other options are to do a uninstall and reinstall and make sure you have the latest version of adobe animate 22.0.6.

After you do an uninstall and reinstall make sure you refresh the computer. If you are using a Windows machine you can do a cleanup by defrag in the computer and see if that helps as well.

I followed your advice and defragged my computer but it hasnt made a difference unfortunately to the speed that Animate is operating at.

That's a gaming laptop and should be capable. Hard to say what's causing your issues aside from running as many updates and making sure your video card drivers are up to date.

With regards to the video card driver how would I find out if its full. I know it may be obvious but I've never really been in the position to consider this.

Video cards don't "fill up" really. They have RAM but it's not like a hard drive where it has to be emptied. Usully a factory video card will auto-update along with the operating system. 

Do you know what your screen resolution is? Is your OS 32 or 64bit? I'm grasping at straws here but Animate runs pretty smoothly on my MacBook Pros and a couple of them are a couple of years old.

I have gone into the device manager on my laptop and have run the lastest update on my video card. I can alsom tell you that my screens resolution is 1920 x 1080. I have even uninistalled and reinstalled the latest version of Animate but i still find it to run very slowly when i am rotoscoping. Could this particular type of animation be causing the problems as i have imported a video which i am trying to draw over.

I am using the paintbrush icon that has the stroke on it.
If I could give an update on the current situation, I have gone into the media encoder and exported the video I needed to use for rotoscoping again, this time I have excluded sound as I don't need it. I thought this would simplify the video somewhat and maybe help animate run smoother when I imported it in there. This did make a difference and I managed to get quite a few frames drawn and coloured before the program did start to slow down again. The lag isn't as debilitating as it was but there definitely is one that's begun to develop again.
