Animated fire breathing black panther

Hello everyone,

I new and learning how to use animate.  So I would like to know is animate good program to use in make a 3d black panther that can breathe fire?  Or should I be using illustrator or another program?

adobe doesn't true 3d animation tools.  in particular while adobe says animate is 3d, it is not.  it can move 2d objects through 3d space.
