Buggy mask layer with more than one movieclip causing problems

Hey

I have a mask layer. I create a movieclip and draw a shape into it and attach the movieclip to an empty one on the stage. The mask works with this shape. The problem arises when I either draw a shape with the brush tool onto the stage in this layer AND use the code to draw a shape. Or if I draw two shapes in two movieclips. Basically only one movieclip works. Is this normal?

i'm not sure what you're doing because your description is ambiguous, but there are definite mask limitations including limitations when using code and a mask.
