Can't get Flash CS6 or Animate 2015 - 2018 CC to work on Surface Book/laptop

As per the topic title... I have tried the following:

1. Flash CS6
2. Animate 2015
3. Animate 2017
4. Animate 2018

I have tried each of these on both a Surface laptop 3 and a Surface book 3. All initially launch with a splash screen but then nothing happens and each disappears from the taskbar.

Animate 2020 works but it's impossible to use productively on a 13 inch screen.

Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening? Thanks.
