I'm fairly new at Flash or Animate CC and have been googling and looking for answers all day. Most cannot import sound but I can. I just can't drag it to my timeline. I import the .wav 16-bit 44.1 khz file to my library and it even plays there. But once I try and drag it to the timeline there is a little "no" sign (the circle with the diagonal line slashed through) next to the cursor. I drag it to the stage and there is a green circle with a white plus sign but it doesn't add it the sound to my timeline anyways. I even tried doing it on a second computer with animate on it as well as with a different sound file. I still get the same results. If anyone can help I would be eternally grateful!
Sound behaves in a different way. You can select the timeline and import a sound into that layer, but if the sound is already in the library you would select the layer and key frame you want the sound to start, and then in Properties there is a Sound section, with a drop down menu for you to choose which sound you want.

Thank you so much this helped alot, but now I'm wondering if I can add a full sound piece without any animation. I want to animate TO the sound, not add sound afterwards. I'm attempting to make an animated music video. I attempted to drag it many times but it always gives me different results. Is there a step by step guide anywhere to add purely sound to a new project with no animation in it? Maybe just a frame to start it off. Thank you!

I don't understand what the problem is. If you want a timeline with just a music track on it... then make a timeline with just a music track on it. The immediately preceding post already tells you how to do this, so why are you still trying to drag sounds?

This does not solve the problem. The sound files are coming in truncated... We got the first three words and that's all that comes in and it just repeats those 3 words over and over. When we were doing animal sounds from the tutorial, we were having the SAME issue...
VERY frustrating.

I answered your other post, see if that helps. Also, how many frames are in your timeline?
