Files identical, one is marginally graphically tweaked; now one works, the other doesn’t?

I have these two Animate files that are identical except in one I deleted “Rates” and “Resume” graphical elements from it, but now when I preview it in the browser the unedited one still works (deeltleetlelele.fla) and the edited one (Vrt_FoldOutNavbar_HTML5 Canvas.fla) doesn’t, it just displays a rectangle (one of the elements in the animation, that both files contain)?

I can’t for the life of me figure out what’s the difference between these files and why one works and the other one doesn’t, on a substantive, structural level, all I did was delete a few movie clips/graphics and move others into position to compensate. When hitting play within Adobe Animate, both files animate the same, just fine, there’s no difference? It’s only when it’s previewed/published that one works and the other doesn’t. This is so maddening.

Also, all the publishing settings are the same for both files.

Hoping the community can find what I can’t.

Thanks.

that confirms what is stated: the Resume and Rates buttons are referenced in code.

if you removed something that's referenced in code, you'll cause the described problem.  open the problematic html in a browser and check the console to confirm.

Haven’t had the time to check the above suggestion, but will do so as soon as I can.

In the meantime I found that if I don’t delete the Resume and Rates buttons, but instead move them off the stage, and off to the pasteboard, everything works per the original animate file.

So go figure.

But I still want to know specifically and conclusively what’s causing this to fail when said buttons are deleted.
