Flash Player

This doesn't make sense. Why did Flash Player get the boot when web browsers now have more extensions than ever? Even a Flash emulator "Ruffle" can be used by Firefox and so forth but not the original Flash player? HTML5 sucks! Multiple files of third party scripts but we can not have the simple and small SWF file that we loved? It just doesn't make sense to me at all. Flash was so much fun.

BRING BACK FLASH PLAYER! PLEASE!

Steve Jobs sure did. He didn't want competition with iOS apps at the time, so he complained. Why anyone listened to him is beyond me.

there were security issues, so apple blocked flash and it all went downhill from there.

But how is that different than any other hundreds of extensions? They don't have security issues? Ruffle (Flash emulator) that runs on browsers doesn't have security issues? I would think Adobe could sovle this if it was that big of a problem. I personally used Flash for more than 20 years with no problems.

As you can see here, Adobe has not only let Apple trash Flash Player's reputation, but through mismanagement has pretty much destroyed the glorious legacy of Flash and has abandoned its community and markets.

Jobs started it, but Adobe didn't do much to counter the attacks.

So sad. Even if other browsers didn't want to support it, even though they support many other extensions, Adobe could fork Chrome and make Adobe Browser that supports Flash. Bring back the creativity.

If that is the case, then Adobe has no idea how to save it.

  1. Drop your monthly price. $300+ per year is ridiculous for something you'll never own.
  2. Release a secure Flash player for browsers.

Yep, that's about it. I don't think that developers understand that if you lower your prices, you get more users. Possibly more money, larger community and more people to talk about your software and create content. But most importantly, listen to your customers. I doubt anyone from Adobe reads their own forums.

Best thing for a developer to do is listen to their customers but you may be right.

At the time of "Thoughts..." a number of Community Experts and others wrote some really good counter-arguments to the letter. Additionally, there was a lot of conversations internally around these issues in response to the letter and its fallout. Many of the public arguments that were published in this era are no longer extant, sadly. Eventually, everything regarding the platform was killed off and buried... it is not coming back in 2024...

Well, thankfully there is Ruffle and you can always link to it if a user doesn't have it installed just like the normal Flash player.

I hope Adobe sees this message, but we need Flash Player back. I has caused many crashes and stopped availabilities for many things. I heard that Adobe shut down because of hackers. Just use cloudflare.com and please bring back flash.
