Hi guys,
For over a year now I'm having some very annoying font issues inside Animate. Certain fonts like Work Sans don't display correctly when I export on PC, and it fills in the 'A' and 'E''s completely white. And there are also issues with regards to spacing and positioning. Leading will be different and sometimes the text will display lower, ruining the layouts.
The strange thing is that inside the program itself, while I'm creating HTML5 banners, everything displays correctly. The bug only shows up once I export the banners to HTML5/JS. And oddly enough, it's also only inside Animate that I have this issue. No other Adobe software. But it's very annoying and slows down our workflow quite a bit. And I can't choose a different font given that it's our clients' brand. I always have to export on a mac or via remote desktop, which is a big waste of time. Especially if we have to make a whole lot of banners.
I've also tried changing the textfield to dynamic text, but then there's no option to embed the font. (I'm guessing that's only available for Flash and not for HTML5/JS) And if I break the font into vector shapes, then the same issue occurs.
Any ideas? We're wasting a lot of time because of this issue to the point we're considering moving to Google Web Designer for HTML5 banners. Which would suck because I've always used and loved Flash/Animate.
Thank you.

Hi.
If you use static text fields, they will be exported as bitmaps or vector shapes depending on your publish settings. In this way they should be rendered without problems in any platform.
But if some text fields need to be dynamic, I can tell you by experience that the safest approach that works for me is to select fonts from the web fonts dialog menu (Properties > Character > Add web fonts).
This is what works for me but I think it's worth creating a web version of your font to be sure.
Please let us know what you think.
Regards,
JC

HI César,
The text fields don't need to be dynamic. I only tried that as a potential way to fix the problem, which didn't work since I couldn't embed the font. I typically always export as static text field, but that is giving us the current font issue I described above.
I find it very strange that all other Adobe programs including After Effects can handle that same client font just fine, but only Animate doesn't work. Quite frustrating too.

Konrad

Hi @Konrad5CB3
As I was looking for an answer for practically the same issue, I stumbled upon this discussion that has never been solved.
Have you been able yet to find a solution for this problem?
Kind Regards

there are different causes. this thread is from 2 years ago. currently, people are reporting sonoma and animate font problems, https://community.adobe.com/t5/animate-discussions/embedded-fonts-are-broken-in-macos-sonoma/m-p/141...
