grouping multiple symbol

hi, this is probably embarrassing question.

this project isnt mine and i tried to recreate this,

so on the original he put all the object/symbols into one group and have one instance name https://i.imgur.com/ZHHO9iX.png

when i tried to recreate, i break apart the group and regroup with "convert to symbols" it shows like this https://i.imgur.com/CA5FQ2L.png

and the script did not work even with the same instance name

how do i do that grouping thing?

game is probably a parent movieclip with child movieclips and changing that setup will require you to change all the code.

why did you change that setup?
