Half of project suddenly disappeared (CS5.5)

I'm desperate and I've sobbed over this. I had been animating for about 5 hours today and now it's just gone.

All of my movie clips are blanked out, and illustrations I've done are just filled in black.

I don't know what to do. This is days and hours of work just gone and I need to be done before the 30th. I'll do anything I'm just desperate for my work back

restart your computer and reopen your fla.

and in the future save frequently with increasing version numbers appended to your file name.  periodically close and reopen the latest version to make sure it's not corrupted.

Okay, thank you, I'll try and see how it looks. I was able to recover the still images on my own, here's hoping the puppet stuff is saved

you were right completely! a few limbs were lost but i could easily recover them. thank you so much again for the quick reply

don't forget to save your fla's with version numbers appended.

If you have a published SWF you may be able to repopulate those blank symbols by decompiling the SWF and manually copy/pasting the content.
