I put a video component onto the canvas and then used the code snippets to attach a video. When I use the example url that Animate CC gives in the code snippets it works (I guess because it ends with an .mp4) but when I try to put in my hosted video it doesn't work (I don't know what else to do because all of the streaming services I've used in the past (both vimeo and brightcove) give me the url of the video without .mp4 on the end. I have an embed code from the site but I don't know how to attach that to Animate's video component. Here are the two video url's below:
Vimeo's url that doesn't work with the Animate's video component: https://vimeo.com/276593880
The url Animate CC gives in code snippets that works with the video component: https://images-tv.adobe.com/avp/vr/15a99ccf-0e7c-4601-b270-87dd82624086/5078a43c-81f9-4a93-836c-8152...
no matter where it's hosted, it does not add to file size of the fla's published files. that's true even if hosted locally on the same server that will host the published files.
you just need to the path to the video, not a tutorial.

you need the path to the video, not the webpage that hosts the video.
p.s. many video hosts don't want you to display their video as if it were yours.

If you want to embed a Vimeo or YouTube video, you have to use their embed code. You can't just suck MP4s off their servers like they're a file hosting site.

How do you embed the vimeo code in the video component of animate?

you can’t. and you’re failing to read or understand what we’re both saying.

So there is no way for me to access a hosted video thru animate ' s video component? ... you are saying I have to either have a direct path which is either difficult to get or frowned upon or upload the video directly to animate.... so weird and backwards sounding

correct.
i'm saying you should use the embed code and not try and thwart vimeo's tos. or download the video and link to the downloaded video, or embed it in a timeline.

If you need to embed the video, why are you even trying to host it on someone else's servers? Why not host it yourself?

I'm trying to make the file the least heavy that I can.... if I upload the video into Animate then I've got the whole file size of the video inside my project, but if it's hosted elsewhere then I can alleviate some of the video adding size to my project. I really don't know what happens when a hosted video is embedded though... if it's hosted elsewhere then I guess I'm still offsetting the video's size and not adding to my animate file size, right?
Also, is there an Animate CC tutorial on how to embed the video that is hosted elsewhere? I need someone to walk me through the steps...
Thank you,
Kristen
