Importing/paste copies the main layer

I was making a small animation on Animate and whenever I add new objects to the stage, it makes a copy of the main layer. Thing is, it cannot be interacted with, if I move the item that I can touch, the other will move with it, then center. I made a copy of the item I added to the stage, the problem went away. But as I edited it, it was disappearing into the project. And the frames before that were effected as if I somehow took an eraser to all of them. Then I try to replicate those frames, and then the image comes back again.

Thank you for your...kind...reply, but it turns out symbols weren't the
issue.

There was some type of memory issue that caused the problem and all it
needed was a simple uninstall and reinstall.

Hi mate,

From what you describe I guess you have no idea what a Symbol is in the context and terminology of Flash.

You should look into Symbols and Symbol Instances to get some grasp how this program is supposed to be used.
