As mentioned above, just lookup those files on the finder window and drag - drop them on the stage inside Animate.

The audio files should get imported and placed on the selected frame./

It's not hard to reveal your iTunes files in your operating system's file structure. What's much more difficult is getting the permission from the copyright holder of the music to let you use it in your production.

my production is just fooling around with animate and not to be published, at my age it's hard to publish anything since I probably don't know how to do that either. So is there a way I can do it and if so how?

In a related question, didn't it used to be possible to import sound files to either the stage or the library? It still continues to work in CS6, but with Animate 2017 both mp3 and wav files show as grayed out.

yes, you should be able to Import to Stage/Library using the import dialog as well.

Does it not work for you?  Please check if its for any particular file type or scenario only..

I don't get to the point of being able to choose a file, all mp3 and wav files are grayed out in the file dialog. It's true whether I'm using AS3 or Canvas. In all cases the same files are selectable in CS6.

That's odd! Works fine for me on both Win and mac on released version AN 2017.

Please share a sample MP3 file and FLA file which shows the problem at your end, just to check if its not something specific to one of these files.

Hi Colin,

Could you please try drag drop from finder window to animate app and see if that works? It may also happen if your file type filter is set to non sound files in the Finder window which is hidden by default.

Thanks!

Mohan

Thanks, that solved it. For some strange reason it had set itself to ogg-vorbis.
