..but it's slow. I have the basic artboard and one level that is tweened and moving, but when I hit the Play button all I see is the tween movement. How do I see the Artboard and the tween at the same time? Question two: My 1930X1090 screen is outlined in black, nothing else there, and I presume that means the basic screen is empty. Is there a way to fill with what I have on Artboard one? Any thoughts on this appreciated..thanks.

No worries.

Think of the stage as a transparent window. It's empty, void of color.

To add a background, import an image or use the rectangle tool and a color fill to draw a shape that spans the width and height of the stage and keep this on the bottom layer.

With your tween and animation on a layer above it, to preview, simply hit enter/return key to play the timeline within Animate CC. The timeline panel also has playback controls visible to you. To test the movie say inside the Flash Player, simp

You mentioned having a tween with movement and when you hit play that's all you see. Was there something else you added to your animation that you should see but are not?

Also, Artboard is a term used in programs like Illustrator and Sketch but in Animate it's called the 'stage' just for clarity. Same thing.

The stage has an outline to make things easier visually when assets are placed outside and/or are overlapping the visible stage area. I don't understand what you mean about "filling" what you already have on "artborad 1". There's no possible way of having more than 1 stage. Are you perhaps working inside a symbol that exists only in your Library?

Basically I guess I'm used to PS 5 and how it operated. Plus I've worked in XaraX for years. And I guess I presumed the Stage presented itself as do the backgrounds in the drawing programs I've been used to, being able to fill with a background. I apologize for my lack of knowledge..am just needing to learn. Here's what I have, Layer1, the Artboard has the background for the project. Layer2 has the tween object (working fine). I haven't figured out how to preview Layer1 and 2 at the same time just to make sure the presentation will go as planned.
