Adobe AIR is available and supported for Windows 8 Desktop on x86-based computers. Adobe currently has no plans to support Adobe AIR for Windows 8 Modern UI applications or Windows Mobile.
Hi, just copied and pasted this from Adobe roadmap article.
Is that right? So no more AIR from now on then??? Please tell me that is not true.
yes, it will work on windows 8 desktop. ie, a full os. you just can't install on a windows phone and windows tablets.

that's no change from the earlier and current situations.
the only mobile platforms supported by air have been and are iOS and android.

Well, I have been using AIR to install my web programme on pcs, netbooks etc... with all windows versions. I haven't tried it on windows 8 yet but as you say it won't work. SO - is there any way of getting my programme onto a windows 8 machine.
a. I have to stop developing in flash for desktop, netbooks
b. I could perhaps download android os onto a desktop (no idea if that is possible)
Anyway, this is amazingly strange news to me as they have just brought out the GPU stuff with molehill, starling etc... to create console quality games - so only for games in the browser???
In conclusion: how to I get my flash app onto a windows 8 machine without going through the web?
Cheers in advance

Thank you so much, I just popped my heart back into my chest. I should follow these things more closely. So we have a few more years yet.

They run windows RT: Can I install AIR prgms on RT???
I now you mentioned a full OS but I don't know anything about RT.
Please could you confirm.
Cheers in advance

because i can't find anything confirming that air is supported by windows rt, i'm skeptical that it can.
if i were you i'd go to a bricks/mortar store and see if it can be installed before investing.
