Does anyone know if the outline box used with Object Drawing Mode has been omitted with the upgrade form Flash to Adobe Animate? I have used the toggle switch, clicked manually, made sure it was off before starting new canvass, clicked my brush and then selected object mode. But no outline box after I draw.

the bounding box is no longer present in the latest version of animate pro after drawing using object mode. why do you need that?

It does still display the bounds of drawing objects when they're selected, just not in box form anymore (unless the object is indeed box-shaped). Instead it displays the object's vector control points, which can be manipulated directly with the subselection tool without having to double-click into the object.

i saw that but i wouldn't call that a bounding box. i'm not sure what to call it.
anyway, just like the flip horizontal benefit, i really can't see much need for a bounding box, but it must work into someone's work-flow.
that reminds of something i read years ago about changes made to software. someone was saying that no matter what you change there will always be someone else screaming that it totally ruined their work-flow and he gave an example of a software bug that was fixed and someone complained they had been incorporating that bug into their work-flow and they absolutely needed that bug to remain.

I can hardly use Animate because of the switch from the region bounding box to pen points outline. I use low-smoothing paintbrush tool and when I select object drawn content, Animate lurches. I really wish they'd give you a choice to use the old bounding box version, as I'm stuck using Flash 2015 CC.

I'd like to join this year old conversation.
The bounding box was very important for me and I'm surprised I don't see more people complaining about it missing.
I already filed a feature request (without response) some months ago to bring it back as an option.
I'll do it again with the images I attach here.
Everything is perfectly visible and understandable at a glance. With
The current selection is inferior in all ways. I barely see if anything is selected.
And selection is practically invisible on any thin line drawing object. If the layer color is close to the line color it’s even worse.
Also you simply can't see hairline thickness lines (note the pentagon shape)
Compared to bounding boxes you can’t easily see what’s a “raw” vector line and what’s a drawing object. With a thinner line object it - again - gets impossible. It’s also very slow when I want to spot out the ones I’m searching for.
But let’s presume it’s OK to not have a bounding box.
I’d still be unable to use Animate just because the thin line selection issue. It’s so uncomfortable it makes my eyes hurt.
Adobe solved many minor but extremely annoying issues from the Flash times (resizing frames, extremely buggy and unstable color select, etc.) but I can’t enjoy them because they removed something I never though being problematic being there, but not being there annoys the hell out of me.
Maybe someone reads my wall of text who can help bounding box get back at least as an option.

their point-based object drawing selection is DRIVING ME NUTS.
I think the reason they won't fix it is because they did a complete redo of how Animate draws content in the backend to make it work easier with conversion to html5 (this is me speculating), so it's not as simple as reverting to bounding boxes, although I think it's definitely worth a shot! It takes a lot of RAM to show all those points on complex art. Who knows though, they seem to be cutting a lot of corners, so this app might die in a few years. I love Flash. :...(
