Object mode is grayed out

I'm using Animate 2022 v 22.0.5 on Mac.

I've already pressed J, doesn't work. I'm not accidentally pressing it either.

Object drawing mode seems to just turn on while I'm drawing and when I try to turn it off it's grayed out. I tried all 3 different brush tools and it's still the same. VERY frustrating that the only fix to this so far is to just hope it magically fixes itself while I'm working or I restart Animate.

What is going on? The only conclusion I can come up with is it's a bug in the recent update. A few months ago I NEVER had this problem. If there's a solution other than restarting Animate everytime that'd be great.

that wasn't one of the fixes listed for 22.0.6, but you should probably try updating before doing anything else.
