Panning instead of drawing Surface Pro 7

Hi there, my main art program is Flash CS6. I got a serial key for it a decade ago and it still works on my main computer running windows 10. But I recently got a surface pro 7 and it just doesn't work. It runs but when I try to draw it pans the app around like I'm trying to swipe something with my finger. Is there a fix for this? Thanks!

This is my main art program so I'm really hoping theres a fix for this.

Older software like Flash CS6 uses Wintab to work with pen devices. The Surface Pro doesn't ship with these drivers anymore as it's been largely replaced by Windows Ink (Animate supports Windows Ink natively since the 2020 version). That being said, you could probably install these drivers yourself from the Microsoft page but they're only listed for the Surface Pro 4 so it may or may not work for your device. If you want to give it a shot here it is:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=49498

The driver is located under the Archive section.

Hi Mario, thanks for the reply. The driver came in a folder with DHid.dll and wintab32.dll

What should I do with these .dll files? I installed the driver but I see no difference so far, but I did ignore those .dll's

The driver should be enough, though it doesn't work by the looks of it. That's a shame.

Just to add: If the driver suggested by Mario does not solve the issue, you can just plug in a Wacom pen tablet and install the Wacom drivers. They support WinTab and work perfectly with CS6.

Do you mean draw with a Wacom tablet instead of the surface pro itself? The main reason I got the surfacdpro was to draw and animate on the go ðŸ˜• I have taken my laptop and Wacom cintiq with me before but its far too cumbersome, too many boxes and wires

Odd thing is, I can draw in flash but only if the line starts horizontally, if it starts vertically then it just keeps trying to swipe the screen

Yes, this is what I meant.

I'm sorry that the new hardware you've bought is incompatible with your (and my) favourite piece of software.

Personally, animating 'on the go' is a concept which I do not understand, but I know that people do this. Still it is better to be able to use your Surface + CS6 with the help of a Wacom than having to struggle with the sluggish, awful and unstable Animate.
