Photoshop file's layers aren't imported correctly

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to animate a photoshop file with a lot of quite intricate layers. When I import the file, the whole composition looks fine, but when I try to move the layers seperately, they look sort of unclean and smashed together - does anybody know what that's about? Is it because there are too many layers?

I've attached some images of what the layers should look like and what they look like once they've been imported to the stage.

Thank you so much in advance!

1600 is the maximum number of layers animate can handle.  do you have more than that?

Hi,

thanks so much for your reply! No, I 'only' have 150 :). But that's good to know anyway!

so, after importing your 150 layers everything looks good?

if so, after what step does that change?

Yes, the image as a whole looks fine - the problem starts when I start separating/moving the layers (they're supposed to be individual feathers that i'd like to animate in a certain way). They definitely don't look the way they did in photoshop - to me it looks like they weren't imported/separated correctly.

before moving, hide all layers and then unhide the ones you think are problematic. do they still look ok before moving?

Unfortunately they already look damaged before being moved. I've attached some screenshot showing what they should look like and what they do look like - all of the feather layers seem to have the same problem 😞

Hello Helena,

There have been multiple threads on the forum about this issue. Look for them.

The consensus, if I remember correctly, was that PSD import is compromised, and one should export layers as PNGs from Photoshop, and then import those PNGs into Animate.

so, that's already known and is a photoshop issue.  read @n. tilcheff 's above message.

if they'd imported ok and then were corrupted on moving, that would have been an animate issue (and been more interesting).  that's why i asked you to check before moving.

Thanks so much, I actually made it work by importing the layers individually! I'll look for similar questions before asking in the future 🙂
