I've drawn my character with all the layers and groups as I seen in tutorial. How do I open my character in animate cc to see if it's working properly?

You would get a much better response in the Animate forum — I believe that members of the Animate team post follow that forum.

I can move this thread to that forum if you like, or you could start a new, parallel thread over there, and cover all the bases.
