Recovery file I was using for two days disappeared after a resaving of the original

How do I recover a recovery file that has disappeared?

I had two files: Fantasy UVerse.fla and RECOVERY_Fantasy UVerse.fla. The latter was made automatically after a program crash and Ive used it for work over the few days after the crash. Today, I had both files open as I was pulling items from the prior to the latter. When I closed the program, I saved the RECOVERY file and then the original. When I tried to reopen the RECOVERY file to continue work, it was no longer in the file it was saved and I cannot locate it anywhere. Only the original remains.

My guess is that resaving the original file either deleted the RECOVERY file or overwrote it as the program may have misinterpreted it as being redundant. Is there any way I can get the RECOVERY file back?

No. Not only have you shot yourself in the foot, the shooting was entirely premeditated. I'm frankly in disbelief that you actually did what you're saying you did.
