stop timeline but leave movieclips playing?

Hi, I'm a newbie. I searched for this but didn't find an answer, so apologies if this has been asked. I have a 'home' frame, that I want the timeline to stay on, until the user interacts with certain elements. I know how to pause or stop, but it freezes my looping movie clips as well, that have their own timelines (animated backgrounds and moving elements). Is there a way to stay on this keyframe in the main timeline but allow the movieclips to play/loop?

They would only freeze if you had them set to be Graphic and not MovieClip. Click on one of them and look in Properties to tell what kind it is set to be.
