sub movieclips are not animating when exporting a animated gif in the latest Adobe Animate

I have a animation of a panting dog I made that when I would export it as an animated gif with previous versions of Animate, the tongue would bob (in iti's own movieclip). In the latest Adobe Animate 20.0.2, The tongue is not animated as is other submovieclips for other animations. Is there a option I need to turn on or off in order to make it display submovieclip animations on export? Line

nested movieclips do not animate when exported.  use nested graphic symbols instead.
