No, there is no way to turn that anti-aliasing behaviour off. At least, not in the spritesheet tool in Animate.

More bad news:

  • from Flash CS4 and upward (including Animate CC) unchecking the "smooth" option in either PNG or GIF image export stopped working. Since 2008 it is not possible to export low-res art without resorting to a code workaround. It is a known bug, and it hasn't been fixed yet, even after all these years.
  • The code workaround only works in AS3 projects, not in HTML5 projects. Convert to AS3 if possible. If not, you cannot use this method:
Insert stage.quality = "low" in the first frame of your animation. Then export to a PNG image sequence with the media encoder.
  • Even with the code workaround, due to pixel rounding, the aliased output result leaves something to be desired in some cases.
  • It also means you will have to resort to an external spritesheet generation tool (like TexturePacker) to prepare sprite sheets.

In short: not a great idea to attempt to use Animate CC for any pixel art or aliased bitmap artwork.

And to be fair: it is meant for vector, not for precise bitmap pixel-level output. It definitely is the worst choice for pixel art creation. Use other dedicated pixel art animation software for that.

You could try importing your work in Illustrator as vector and export from there. Or open your work in Flash CS3 or earlier 😉

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
