Alright this is something that has been bugging the living heck out of me for the last year and I want answers. Why is it when I tween certain symbols their positions change even though I specifically had them keyframed to a specific position before moving them? Let's use "eyes" as an example. I've always tweened eyes since it's a lot faster. I'll keyframe a starting point for each shape in the eye by right clicking, "create motion tween", then I'd select the starting keyframe (insert -> keyframe -> all), insert a keyframe like two frames after with the same method or a shortcut key (as well as further in the timeline so they can revert back to their original position/size), and then change the eye to make it shrink in height, clear the keyframe and insert a line for the blink, etc. So in reality it only shrinks between two frames and is cleared. For some reason the symbols will go back to somewhat where they were before the blink but more often than not they will be out of place enough to be noticeably inaccurate. It happens most to the lines I add under the eye to make it look like an eye is "squinting" or "squished". The line can end up being off by like 2-3+ centimeters at times from where I originally had it keyframed. Eyebrows also move out of place with no explanation.
Even as I continue to fix it by clicking on said keyframe and moving it back to where it was (clicking on the shape on the stage and moving it), copying and pasting the "properties" of that keyframe (right click -> copy properties) it still ends up moving on its own for no reason as I continue to make changes further down the timeline. Why does this happen?? For no reason at all the starting position can even change on Frame 01. It happens to my eye symbols more than anything. What I mean is the problem isn't that they're physically moving (tweening) on screen between keyframe 'A' and 'B' ; the problem is the "position" I had them locked in changes. I attached images below to help better explain. Literally all of the keyframes in that picture's timeline are the exact same except for the one before the greyed out keyframes (they shrink the eye pieces height from 100 to 50 in the tween). Would "shape tweening" be a better alternative because this drives me absolutely crazy at times...because making keyframes should enable Flash to remember the information from before, should it not? Could the cause of everything be from "clearing" the keyframes between frame 34 and 36 (35 is the blank)? If anyone has any solutions please let me know. Thanks!

Not sure exactly why this is happening but I would suggest you do not use Motion Tweens and instead use the Classic Tween. The reason? Because then you can nest art inside symbols tell Animate what frame to display on each keyframe. FAR easier to animate characters this way. You can create hand symbols, eye symbols, mouth symbols and all sorts of things which will make it easer for you to animate. All professional Flash animators use Classic Tweens. trust me they're your friend.

I've always used the motion tweens over the classic tweens, mainly because they were newer and supposedly "easier" when I started animating. Maybe classic tweens will fix it. Thanks!
