unparent all frames in a layer

New user here. Trying out parenting layers. How do I make sure all frames in a layer are unparented at once. My issue is I've removed a layer parent, but some frames in the layer remain parented. It appears I have to go frame by frame and unparent each one. I must be missing something.

Also, why would the objects on only two frames in a layer shift their position when parented, when all the others stay in place?
