Using the Camera causes testing in browser to have blank screen

Hello,

I ended up using bones to rig my characters.  Apparently bones causes about as many problems as it solves.  Such as having to use the camera tool to zoom in on things, rather than scaling up the layers.

I had a camera layer set up, and it was working fine until recently.  Suddenly when I clicked on test to see my animations, all that would come up with was a blank screen.

I read through all the answers as to what to do when testing doesn't work.  When those solutions failed, I tired deleting layers one at a time.  When I deleted the Camera layer, my animation started playing.  I figured that maybe it was that layer, and I could try just redoing the camera motions, but I added a new camera layer and tested immediatly after, the same thing happened, I just get a blanks screen.

Not sure what to do, this is a project  for school, and I don't know if I have time to go back and rig by parenting or re rig with Flanimate.

Does the blank screen in browser tesing mean that when I publish, it won't work when I publish.  I would have to upload it to my website to be sure, as apparently I can't view that file locally due to security issues.

Thanks if you have any solutions,

Stu

Hi Stu,

Before the buggy camera was introduced, for decades Flash animators used a Graphic symbol as camera.

Select all your layers, right-click and choose "Convert layers to symbol". Set that symbol to Play Once, starting from 1.

Then tween it to simulate a camera.

You can see how this technique is applied in this sample file: https://flash-powertools.com/edapt-movie-template-free-download/

Also, if your work is not intended to be interactive, change your document type from Canvas to AS3. Canvas files have many limitations, and are not intended to be used for video export.

And finally, if you have the time and for future projects, your best rigging option is Smart Magnet Rigs.

Good luck!
