Animate workspace covered behind white layer

When I start up the program and create a new file, the main workspace is covered in white. I can add shapes (they show up down in the frame preview) but I can not see them in the main workspace. The program seems to think they are there, changing the cursor if I'm over a control point. Upon closing the program, I can see the workspace briefly as whatever white space is covering everything disapears as the program closes.

Any ideas for a fix?

I am having the same issue. I am a teacher and am trying to get 20 students to work on Animate with no luck what so ever. Anyone know a fix?
