Completely new to any sort of animation, I am trying to learn how to do something like this the correct way, but I can't even think of the correct terminology to search what I am looking for. I want to have a list of words quickly drop and replace the previous word, starting off slow, but a couple of seconds in it just looks like a quick blur of dozens of words for couple more seconds before it slows down and settles on one final word. Can anyone point me in the right direction for a tutorial on this?

This is called a slot machine or odometer text effect.

Strobing images maybe?

https://www.thefreedictionary.com/Strobing

Flickering images?

Use any metaphor you can think of. This is generally how we talk about animation

Effectively what you show here are a bunch of single frame images and then you can have intertwined single frame images to define a pattern.

Frame rate has to be 25 or higher for this kind of thing to work.

Good luck!
