How do you split a frame into 2 without using cut?

I want to split a frame into 2, but I don't know how to. I have tried using the Cut feature for a while, but when I use it, the frame selected disappears. I am wondering how to do the same without having to remove a frame.

Select a frame in the Timeline and press F6 on the keyboard.
