Is it possible to edit a symbol "in place" with the background scene playing along?

When I edit a symbol "in place" the background scene the symbol is nested in turns white but it does not advance frames as I add frames to the symbol. Is there any way to make the background scene update along with the symbol's frames as I am editing it?

Thanks so much!

Hi mate,

No, but you can open multiple views and quickly switch between them to preview synced timelines in context.

Do do so, go to Window menu > Duplicate Window.
