I only found timeline.createMotionTween() inside the documentation.

Hi.

This is the method that creates a Classic Tween.

The method that creates Motion Tweens is timeline.createMotionObject().

The name createMotionTween might have been introduced before the insertion of Motion Tweens in the Adobe Flash era and that's the reason the name is misleading, I guess.
