I have created a character and animated the walk cycle in the center of the stage. I now need to put this character in a backdrop that I've created and have him move. I would like for him to walk into the frame from the left.
The problem is I don't know how to move the character within the space without going into/changing every keyframe in the walk cycle. I come from premiere, where I would call the solution "nesting" the sequence so I can move, scale, and rotate it without effecting the walk cycle animation. I've created symbols for each of the body parts (followed a "draw with Jazza" tutorial) so I can't make the entire piece a symbol (when I try this it says you can not put a symbol within a symbol).
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
You can't put a symbol into itself. It's normal to put symbols into other symbols.
Make sure you have a backup in case you get this wrong:
Select the layers of the character parts.
Right-click in the layer name area and do a Cut Layers.
In the Library right-click and select New Symbol. Choose Graphic as the type.
You should now see the graphic's timeline.
Right click in the layers area and choose Paste Layers.
If you then go back to the main timeline you should be able to drag the graphic you just made

Hello. I'm wondering if you can help? I have created a character with many layers converted to symbols (graphics), and from there created a walk cycle using classic tweens. I want to be able to use this to go across a stage just as was asked here. All of the tutorials say that you have to convert to symbol as you have. I did this however when I do this it does not retain the animation (all of the classic tweens). Is there some new step I am missing?
Thanks - I'm very new to this!

After you've applied the Tween however and gotten your start and stop positions, you should go back and move the character to place the feet better because the feet are going to slide using a Tween.
Basically you Tween, then create a keyframe for every other frame, then get rid of the Tween then slide the character forward into position each frame so his feet don't slide and he appears to move forward in the scene.
