a sprite sheet is a bitmap that contains smaller images (typically of one or more animations) and is a standardized way to export animations from one program (eg, animate) and import to another program (eg, unity), and a way to enhance performance.

create one (from a movieclip that has changing bitmap) and inspect it in any graphic viewer.
