Hello,

I'm learnig Adobe Animate and I'm facing the following challenge.

In Illustrator I create two layers and create a simple infographics. One layer is for the background and the other is for the object that I plan to Animate.

But when I import the Illustrator file to Animate there is only one layer (Layer 1).

For your info: When I import the Illustrator file (File/Import to stage) I choose the following settings:

  • Select all layers
  • Animate layers
  • Place objects at original positions

Can anyone help me troubleshoot this?

Hi, indeed. If I use Animate 2020 (suddenly I have Animate 2019 and Animate 2020 in my Creative Cloud) I can import files saved as Adobe Animate 2020 CC.

Thank you all.

Don't import it, just copy it from illustrator and paste it into animate.

i'm at adobe max about to ta my 4th ai to animate workshop and out of the 200-300 attendees importing their multilayer work into animate none, to my knowledge, has encountered a problem using the import dialog.

i'm having trouble seeing everything i would like to see (because of the small screens on my end) but make sure that 2 layered ai file has been saved (as an ai file).  then in animate, make sure you're importing to the stage, NOT the library.

Hey guys,

I have figure it out!!

The problem was that the AI file was saved as Illustrator2020. When I changed that to Illustrator CC (Legacy) it all worked fine with importing it to stage in Animate.

I was however not very happy to save AI file as Illustrator CC (Legacy) but if it works it works.

Hopefully I did the right thing and nothing else is broken beacuse of that.

Best, M
