Feature Request: Automatic clip fades

Explorer ,
Jan 21, 2021 Jan 21, 2021

Hi there!

I use Audition mostly for podcasting work.

When I’m editing out silence within a multitrack file, it would be very handy to have fades automatically added to clips that are splitted.

For example, when I split a clip, the first clip gets a fade-out of 10ms and the next one gets a fade-in of 10ms. Bonus would be if the tracks overlapped the same amount of time, so you effectively don’t lose anything.

Furthermore I would love a feature to add certain fade-ins or -outs to all selected clips. For example when I’d forget to activate the above mentioned functionality and no clip has either a fade-in or fade-out.

That would prevent clicking at the cutting points.

Kind regards!

For anybody editing music, automatic fades at split points would be a disaster! And anyway, whenever you split a clip, you get a fade handle at each end of the two clips you've created when you highlight them - all you need. As far as clicks are concerned, if you go to Preferences.>Data you get the option to alter what happens at edit boundaries, and having a setting of 5ms in there for each will eliminate boundary clicks, which are generally caused by non-zero crossings at the cut point.

It would not be a disaster if the feature was optional. With thousands of cuts, being about to automatically fade like other programs (Reaper, for example) would save tremendous time. The time to grab and drag handles on each clip really adds up over a couple of hours of audio.

@cuppycup you and SebSchGer are absolutely right! I'm sorry to say that SteveG has many comments that rub us up the wrong way. He P/A defends Adobe Audition at every opportunity rather than really listens to what the users request.

That's nonsense. Every cut clip needs to have a fade to avoid clicks. We just want it to be optionally automatic.
