I've been having this issue on and off on various audio projects. When saving a session, Audition prompts me to copy audio files into the session folder. I like having this prompt, as it reassures me that I will be working with copies that remain available when I switch to another workstation.
But sometimes after a while into a session, the prompt keeps popping up when saving, even though I have not added any files since the last save. When I click Yes nothing really seems to happen, and when I save the session again, the prompt reappears with the same results. Recently I have been able to pinpoint a possible issue that leads to this. I discovered that I was using two different audio files with the same filename (ZOOM006_LR.wav). I just happened to have two recordings from different folders that I both needed in my session. As the first recording was already copied to Imported Files, Audition was probably unable to save the second file?
After closing and reopening the session, Audition does pop up with the missing audio message for one of the clips, so it knows they are two separate files despite having the same name. Why can't it then import the files and append a number to them, like it does when automatically conforming files into a session?
I know that renaming files before importing would most likely solve this, but I won't always be able to rename media library files. Copying them manually first would defeat the purpose of the import feature - basically I am a bit lazy here 😉
I am currently on build 24.0.3.3 on MacOS Ventura 13.4.1, and on build 24.0.3.3 on Windows 10 Enterprise 21H2. I have been having the issue on previous Audition builds and earlier versions of Mac/Windows as well, but have never been able to pinpoint a way to reproduce the problem. I am also not sure that this is the only reason for this issue, but I hope the experts here can help me!
