Sometimes can't delete selected clip during playback

I edit podcasts for a living and have an issue with Audition that's been bugging me for literally years. As shown in the video, while editing out hesitations and stutters, sometimes Audition won't let me delete a selected clip during playback in the multitrack editor. I have to stop playback, delete the clip, and resume playback. It happens maybe one in every 5-10 edits, which is enough to be hugely annoying, to break my flow when editing, and add up to a lot of wasted time.

I'm on a top-end Macbook Pro and have had this issue with every version of Audition I've ever used. Any suggestions? This has been driving me nuts for YEARS.

Hi @davidc60199300 we do not have a fix yet, we are yet to reproduce the problem reliably. Any help is appreciated.

I recently managed to fix this problem by luck – the solution was to turn off the input in the audio hardware settings. If an audio input is selected, the problem occurs. If it's turned off, it doesn't.

Hi -- would you be able to point where to do that?

Sure – go to settings > Audio hardware > Deafault input, change to 'no input'.
