Adding to multitrack - each time it's further down the timeline

I'm editing and adding items to the multitrack.  Each time I add something, it's further and further down the timeline.   How do I stop this from happening? I want it to appear where I put my cursor in the multitrack.

It sounds like the media you're importing has BWF timestamp metadata, and by default, Audition will honor those timestamps when using the "Insert into" command. To avoid this, you can drag the clips in manually, or disable this behavior entirely under Preferences > Multitrack Clips > Use embedded timecode...

Thanks for the quick reply, _durin.  I already had this selected, so I de-selected it and the problem seems to have gone away.
