All settings for microphone and output are correct and still no levels!

Windows 10 using Scarlett Solo gen 1 with the installed driver. Solo shows up and is the default mic and speaker in Windows settings and in Audition. All I am looking for is to see levels show up after clicked (R) and to record successfully. I get nothing. Try recording and it only shows a skinny red area and then doesn't seem to record properly. No error messages of any kind. Please help

One quick thing to check is the input selection on your multitrack tracks.  That's the box in the information panel at the left end of each track marked with a right-facing arrow.  Chances are it will say something like "Default Stereo Input".  Click on the box, select Mono, and hopefully you'll be offered choices based on the Scarlett.

If this doesn't work, it's worth going to Edit/Preferences/Audio Hardware and make sure the Scarlett's drivers are selected under Device Class--this is most likely ASIO.  Once you've done that, you should be able to select the Scarlet in the next box rather than simply Default or whatever.  If you have MME selected, that maybe the problem--I have some audio interfaces that only work on their own ASIO and won't accept MME from Windows 10.

Finally, if all else fails, it's worth reinstalling the Focusrite driver making sure it's one that is suitable for Windows 10.
