Audio clip sounds bad when played from the middle but sounds fine when played from the beginning

I have a bass drop audio clip in multitrack and when i play from the beginning or anytime before that clip starts it sounds fine. However, if I scrub the playhead over the middle of that clip and then press play it sounds distorted. I have a 2022 imac and I'm running the latest version of audition. Thank you for your help.
